No! They have a very different cultural lifestyle, and they think that everyone should live like them. They try to push their lifestyle on us. Fro example, they make meat and whatever else around 10am and eat that for breakfast, they don't sit at the dinner table, they like to get drunk at all family gatherings, they think it is okay to feed my 6 month old icecream cake, they think breaking the law is okay as long as you get away with it, they think they know everything, the list goes on. However I am always polite when I am around them, except for one time when my Father in law got drunk and started breaking things and I lost it and lashed out on him, the next day everything was fine, he was too drunk to remember anything. Also there is a language barrier, even though they speak English, they are from Guyana where they speak English with a creole accent or broken english, very hard to understand.

My mother in law and sister in law are cool. My 3 brothers in law are worthless. One abandoned his babys mother and doesnt pay child support or take care of his kid, one is addicted to pot and would rather spend money on that instead of rent or anything, and the other is a klepto who once stole 50 dollars out of my purse (and 20 of it belonged to my daughter). My late father in law was a good man and if he saw how his sons were behaving now hed be so ashamed. If he were alive though, they probly wouldnt be acting so bad because he would set them straight. The only son thats still ok is my husband.

No, I do not have a good relationship with my in laws. The best advice I can give anyone is to stay away from them as much as possible and only talk to them on a need-to basis. Be friendly but distant.

I have a good relationship with my mother-in-law. She loves me so much because she thinks I am very good for her son. He is happy and healthy and she thanks me for it everysingle day. Plus my mother-in-law is a wonderful woman. On the other hand, I am not close at all to my father-in-law. I do not like the way he treats my husband. Doesn't really act like a father to him and when he comes back to town he acts like everything is peachykean and that he is a good dad...Pisses me off so bad.

I have a good relationship I would say. They are divorced so it is a separate relationship with each. My MIL is a great person, but totally opposite of us and we oppose each other quite often, but we smile and just go on. No need in making family life rocky since we have to deal with each other for years to come. My FIL is a very laid back man and easy to get along with. He is open and honest and sugar-coats nothing! I like that!

I think getting along with your inlaws is kinda like raising kids....you have to pick your battles!

My "mother in law" manipulates my boyfriend into giving her money and my "father in law" is an abusive prick. So, no, I don't have a great relationship with them. I rarely talk to either of them.

I do now. At first, my mother-in-law and her daughter hated me for no reason, but I gave them a piece of my mind one day and when they understood that I wasn't going to take any nonsense, they pulled themselves together.

Oh, I have a good relationship with my in-laws. Why? They live in the Philippines, I live in the States! But, hey, they always made me feel welcome and would go out of their way to help me with things, unlike my siblings.
