Why doesn't The Daily Show's John Stewart check in with Stephen Colbert from the Colbert Report?

The likely and logical reason may well be that Stephen has "seperated" himself from Stewart's show; opting out to go it alone "on the road"--which I believe Colbert's doing just that.
