I'd say any type of walking shoe. With shoes you do get what you pay for. I usually will spend in the $50 dollar range for a solid pair of shoes.
The worst shoes to buy are anything dressy or heavy. You need something that will allow your feet to "breathe". Sketchers are the worst when it comes to this.
Right now I'm wearing Reebok shoes with the good support (air pocket). It also helps to wear some socks made of Lycra. This allows the sweat to escape. With cotton socks sweat will only build up and leave your feet and shoes stinky.
Another tip off the subject is to wear a pair of those stockings that help with blood flow. I was given this advice by a pharmacist I worked with because she said it helped to prevent varicose veins, which can occur if your standing for long periods daily. I wear the knee highs but I'm sure they come in smaller sizes as well. Good luck with the new job.

The best kind of shoes to get if you are gonna be on your feet all day is nurses shoes. You can get them at payless or just about any shoe store they are the most comfortable.

I'm on my feet 8 hrs 5 days week. I wear black tennis shoes, white if you need white, that support my arches & ball of my feet. I've tried Dr. scholls but they make my feet hurt from toe to heel. Maybe try some support no nonsense leggens they go to your calf, it may help you with legs aching, they come in flesh or black, I get mine at Kmart in the ladies nylons. They stretch all the way up, I was mine with dark clothes, very easy to maintain.

If you are not moving and walking around all the time. When you find yourself standing in one spot for a long time, stand with your feet slightly pigeon-toed. Meaning that your feet are turned inward like their pointing at each other. This repositions the femur (upper leg bone) and takes pressure off the low back. You could also try using a small step stool. While standing in spot for a long time, put one foot up on the step stool. After 10 to 15 minutes switch to the other foot.

Try flats but with gel insoles. They could keep your feet comfortable all day.Or you could try the flats that have a strap on top. They look like flats/tennis shoes because they feel like your wearing tennis shoes.
GOOD LUCK!

Well since you're going to stay there for hours, I suggest that you wear tennis shoes. If you wear high heels, your foot will start hurting , you'll get blisters, and eventually you will break your heel.
