I don't get how that gets around the plug??

well, the plug doesn't have to come out all at once. sometimes it comes out in pieces.

but even if the plug comes out doesn't mean you will lose fluids. the plug coming out means you will have your baby soon, like the next 3 days. but fluid will only come once the sac breaks. if the sac isn't broking then nothing will come.

Discharge comes from glands in the walls of the vagina so it is already in front of the mucous plug. You usually can't lose anmiotic fluid until you have lost your mucous plug.
