it's always happened, the media just likes to follow "trends", and this season it's celebrity DUI's. In a few weeks it'll be something else. A few months ago it was celebrity eating disorders, celebrity adoptions, now this.

It's a new hollywood trend these days. DUI equals publicty. We can thank our trend setters Lidsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Nicole Richie. I just never seem to understand why they drive anyway? When they can have someone drive them anywhere like a limo, which would be much better. I don't see the logic on driving drunk and possibly killing innocent people on the roadway than getting driven around. Oh the many lengths that people go through to get their 15 seconds of fame. Stupid, stupid, stupid, and more stupidity.

The police are no longer overlooking it when celebrities break the law. Drunk driving is now a serious criminal offense, which puts lives at risk. Also people tend to imitate celebrities, so it is important that they are made an example to their fans, of the consequences of DUI.

well i dont think they deserve any medals that is their job.but what about fining people who are serving underage people alchol! or closing down bars that have underage drinking! in michigan they have laws if you are a minor in possecison you go to jail you are fined given probation and court cost.in california is it ok because these are celebrities? its ok for them to do cocaine or meth or heroin or any drug any where at any time and nobody gets busted or goes to prison? its all over the tabloids like so and so spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on her crack habit but nothing happens?what a load of s hit! any regular joe would be in prison forever and would lose their jobs, their car, their homes.not some bimbo hollywood star who has money?what is wrong with this picture?the law is a joke they must all be bought and paid for or they just dont care!

Because everyone likes the booze and they don't give a crap. Anyone who plans on getting drunk is stupid. They keep forgetting that the reason it's called "wasted" is because you have wasted that much time of your life, plastered like an idiot. I was told one time " I will never put a thief in my mouth to rob my brains." It is so such a waste. And hopefully the law is finally cracking down. They can kill someone too.

They know they can get away with it--look at O.J. I think you're right--the law is FINALLY cracking down. There is no excuse for anyone to break the law and not be punished. Perhaps, the law is finally seeing the light.

I don't know, probably law enforcement cracking down on it more and letting it slide less. But these people are rich, why the hell can't they call a cab or a limo if they're drunk? They should get double the penalty. Morons.

hopefully they continue to crack down....I heard one of the ******* from 3 six mafia told paris hilton that she shouldn't feel bad....everyone drinks and drives, she just got caught.

It reminds me never to be driving anywhere in Los Angeles if everyone is drinking and driving there.

I for one, never have and never will. Its stupid!

It's both. Some people just don't get it. I wonder why it happens to celebrities. I mean, can't they just get a driver? Or is he wasted too? lol.
