Does anyone get how important pop songs like Phil Collins and Cindi Lauper are to the longevity of Rock?

I do!! Phil is from Genesis, and Cindi is from another planet

both are out of this world...and I'm a metalhead (but can only stand to hear Phil Collins, on a limited basis)

Absolutely! They were some of the first artists to appeal to more than one type of audience - rock AND pop! Hence the name of this category. A lot of people don't remember that music existed before Green Day, and that people like Paula Abdul are not just television stars. :)

BTW, Phil Collins > many of today's so-called 'pop stars'

Phil Collins has allowed short, balding, past middle-age men pretend they're rocking out since the early eighties. He also is one of the 99 reasons GTA Vice City Stories is the worse Rock Star game ever.

I have been a Genesis fan since 1976. Trick of the Tail is my favorite album. Cyndi is very talented too.

Ofcourse we understand with no pop there will be no rock but that doesnt mean we have to like it
