Monochrome is the tint, tone and shade of one hue.
Hue = color. Tint is adding white to a color, tone adds grey and shade adds black. Often you see a black and white painting that is considered monochrome. However, it has many different values of grey that fall between the black and the white. Still, its all tint, tone and shade and therefore monochrome. Anymore questions? In like an art term is kind of like when people say "Oh, my God" and you're like "What happened", and they're sort of kind of like overusing expressions like "kind of", "sort of" and words like ... "like", and that's how you know that people stopped reading books and getting a real education...

By the way, there's this strange object, like a book, called "Dictionary". Try it, it will not hurt you and you'll find out that the right spelling of that word is with an "h": monocHromatic, plus all the meanings of this word.

(And, of course, the usual thumbs down given by the semi-literates on Y/A or the defenders of the illiteracy.)

It means tints, shades, and hues of one color. Black and white are allowed. An example of a monochromatic color scheme would be black, white, pink, and red.

Just black and white would be a neutral color scheme, not monochromatic.

One tone. There are variations within that tone. It's not really all one color, but does not stray too much from the basic theme.
