My son is 7 weeks old and has reflux issues and formula issues. Can you tell me how the average 7 week old behaves. He sleeps 3-4 hours a night and takes a ton of naps during the day. Do they normally still sleep a lot? How many ounces should he be taking a time. He is about 10.8 lbs. He could eat every 2 hours and take about 3-4 ounces each time.

Yes, they still sleep alot. They will until about 4 or 5 months. And 3-4 ozs. every 2 hours sounds about right. Babies that young don't overeat, so just go off of him.

1] time him when you put him down for a nap in the day -
don't let him sleep longer than 2 - 21/2 hours in a row, then wake him up, play with him, do tummy time, whatever.
2] eventually he will get back to sleeping at night, so you can sleep too.
3] how many times a day is he actually eating? Sounds like about 11! With your doc's approval, space out his feedings to 21/2 - 3 hours, by feeding him a little more at each feeding.
Try to get him to take 4 at a time every 21/2 hours for a couple days, then 41/2 every 3 hours, etc. Burp frequently and make sure he is upright after feedings because of the reflux.
Good luck! Have fun with your little guy.

Everything sounds normal except for the reflux issues and formula issues. I don't know what you mean by those issues but check in with your doctor. At your sons age, he needs alot of sleep but is still getting use to day versus night so him only sleeping 3-4 hours is normal. Also babies his age eat around every 2 hours and they eat about 3-4 ounces. Everything seems great except for those 2 issues.

What formula is he on? My son had reflux and formula issues because he was allergic to milk and soy. His dr had to put him on a hypoallergenic formula alimentum. His reflux went away (without any meds). He still had problems sleeping though. He would wake up every 3 hrs at night to eat.

The oz is up to the baby. Mine ate every 2-3 hrs for a long time, but he was little (and I was also breastfeeding).

He may have his days and nights mixed up.

Talk to your pediatrician at the next visit. He may need a formula change or something.

The eating sounds right for his age. He's still very little and young. The sleeping sounds right too. If you are concerned with his spitting up (which is also normal) let his pediatrician know. Sometimes they change the formula and this helps to lessen all that spit up!
