The H is for "holds". A hold is when a middle reliever, not the closer, enters the game in a save situation and does not relinquish the lead.

Actually, a Hold is only given when a save is recorded. If you win 10-0, then no Holds are recorded. However, if your starter leaves the game with a 3-2 for example, and your closer records the save, and there are two relievers who pitch prior to the closer, then both of those pitchers receive a Hold.
The Hold stat is basically a stat that was added to help quantify the value of middle relievers in baseball.

As a stat in the pitching line, H is for hits allowed.
As a notation where a decision goes, H stands for Hold. This is not an official (sanctioned) stat, so there are several slightly different definitions, but the general notion is a middle relieve performance which preserved or did not relinquish a lead or tie.

H is for Hold. These are given to middle relievers who don't blow the lead. More than one can be given per game, for example, for each reliever between the winning pitcher and the closer.

Since our friend Gabe here states in his question that the "H" he sees is primarily used with middle reliever, it is definitely a hold. As people have said before me, a hold is when the pitcher goes into the game with the lead and leaves with the lead. So, the probably have very few holds, since their bullpen sucks. AHAHAAHAHAAHA.

I'd go with the first guy here, hits is a category that is already covered in the boxscore on the yahoo pages and I regularly see guys in there with (H,7) next to their names but didn't give up a hit so I'd go with hold.

If, like you said, it's in the same category as S and W, then H is a Hold.

It ability they have been given a carry. it is whilst a glass comes right into a activity in a save project and does not blow the save...yet leaves earlier the activity ends and does not get a save. it incredibly is the stat classification to "choose" a setup pitcher.
