Sex is not a need. There actually are people who are asexual, who have no desire whatsoever to have sex, and they're happy and living life. There's no reason for parents to keep their kids from having sex if the kids are over 18 though. There's nothing sad about someone being a virgin in their 20's and 30's, or any age. People who are judgmental about virgins are just as bad as people who are judgmental about adults who have sex.
