When I pressed the power button to turn it on, it just displayed the Sony Ericsson startup logo (as with any SE phone) and stopped right there (it didn't proceed to the main display). I had to plug it on a power outlet and press the power button again to start it up. Sometimes even it won't charge. Taking into consideration all these issues, is the battery bad?

Your phone has crashed. I've seen it with different models. If you've tried taking off the battery and restarting the phone, you are probably beyond held because the phone isn't completely powering on. Hopefully you have everything backed up. Contact your carrier to see what your warranty replacement options are.

My provider is Cingular/AT&T, and when I have a problem with my phone I call customer service and they have been able to fix it remotely on their end every time. It's extremely convenient, so that's where I'd start.

probably. just bring it to the store you bought it from, bring your reciept, and if your lucky they might replace ti fro free. Did u get a warranty? if so, they will replace it for free. if not, then they will replace it for a small fee. Hope that helps! thanxzzz, Will ^_^
