get the correct codec to play the video - divx or xvid probably

This happens when the video codec is missing. Either get the video codec or use a universal media player like VLC.

it sounds like you dont have the correct video codec installed. you can go to microsoft.com and do a search for Codecs to list downloadable ones. Or for peace of mind just go to www.divx.com and download the divx codec. That should allow you to view any video file.
