Hi! I bought a pair of tickets to a musical paying at the fabulous fox theatre; they are very good seats and the tickets cost quite a bit. It is a present for my girlfriend and I plan on handing them to her in her birthday card. Now the deal is that I don't want to her to know just how much I spent so I was wondering if it is possible to black-out (via sharpie) the price on the ticketmaster ticket or does that violate some policy in any way? Has anyone had any experience with such a thing? Thank you very very much!

I wouldn't alter the tickets without calling the venue directly and asking them about it. Even then, I'd make sure to speak to a box office manager before doing anything irrepairable that could end up ruining your whole evening if for some reason your action (albeit sweet) ends up voiding your tickets.

You could always make her a very nice looking itinerary that looks like a fancy menu for the evening and like the other answerer said, she'd never see the tickets.

Good luck and have fun!

You probably shouldn't black out the price. A lot of theaters now use a bar code scanner to check the ticket in, but they may freak out if they see writing on the ticket. Maybe thinking it's scalped or something.

You could just write a card and keep the tickets and just tell her you have tickets and not let her see them.

Generally, no. But, the Fox Theatre can add policies and rules whenever they'd like, so you can just call the box office and ask them to be sure.
