My fiance and I were born in Los Angeles and have lived here all our lives. I've recently been considering moving to Vegas because the cost of living here (esp. home prices) are ridiculous.
So for those of you who live there...how is it? How is the job market? Has anyone moved from LA to Vegas?

it's not bad living in las vegas, but there's not much to do around here unless you're a tourist.
the real estate market has gone up over the past couple years, but not as bad as in southern calfornia. since you live in LA, the price for a house or apartment here is decent.
traffic isn't all that bad if you know which roads or highways to avoid and when.
the food is good, but not as great as in california, especially the seafood.
it gets really hot here around summertime, so most people like to stay indoors with the AC turned way up. going outside on a summer day is almost like suicide, u burn up really quick. plus, there's no humidity, which makes it even more scorching hot.
the job market is kind of tricky, you need to know the right people or be guaranteed a job before you start moving. so many people are moving into this city, jobs are not easy to come by.
overall, las vegas is like any other cities, except the casinos and gambling. most locals don't go to the strip(what we call the casinos)unless they work there and shy away from the glitz and glamour of vegas. vegas doesn't really have much to do other than gambling, but it's a great place to start a family.

Vegas is a huge place to stay far flung from the vacationer areas. instructors are continuously in call for for math and technology. Clark County college District is the biggest in the rustic. Covers Henderson, Boulder city, North Las Vegas, Blue Diamond, Las Vegas, Jean, Primm, Mt Charleston, Laughlin, Glendale, Mesquite, and Indian Springs.

The housing prices are definitely better - you get way more for your money.

There are lots of jobs here, but you may have to take a job and then start looking for a better one once you are settled. It is about who you know here - all about networking.

I grew up in LA and have spent most of my life in California. What you are going to miss is the beach, the food, and the culture. If you are both young and like the nightlife, this is a great city. Otherwise, there isn't a lot for locals to do. Yes there are shows, a few art galleries, sporting events....but they are ridiculously expensive or overly crowded. You have to really search for non-casino, non-tourist things to do.

It's not bad, but you do need to prepare yourself for the culture shock.

Housing is also expensive, you should be able to find a job quickly, lots of casinos. Because its growing so fast traffic is starting to suck, I would say though it probably would be better to live here then LA

Lots of California residents live here.
housing is good and if you work at it you can get a very good deal on rental or purchase.
Job prospects are very good. Extremely good.
