My location is Orange County so if anyone knows some opportunites to audition, please tell. I am looking along the lines of acting. I have already been involved in the school productions "The Man Who Came To Dinner" and "Annie". My talents include singing, dancing and acting. So musical theatre is a big thing to me and anything in the arts interests me.

If you really want a good chance to become a TV actor move to Los Angeles. Get a temp job to pay the rent and audition as much as possible. The harder you work the more likely you'll find success and network network network!!

Good Luck

You didn't say what area you want to go into in this: directing? acting? writing? design? management? Without knowing that it's hard to give you specific advice, but here's some general stuff...

1. Get an education. Go to college. Don't limit yourself just to theatre, either. Take lots of courses in art, music, literature, science, math... everything applies to theatre. For my Stage Management BFA I've taken almost as many business and communications classes as I have theatre classes. You can never know too much academically.

2. Do everything you can to get connections and experience. Even if it's an area that isn't the one of choice for you, take the opportunities where you find them. Be a run crew, be a designer's assistant, be the bit part actor in a show, etc. It may seem like crud jobs sometimes, but everything is experience. Don't ever burn a bridge with anyone, everyone knows everyone in theatre, and a bad rep travels twice as fast as a good one.

3. Don't expect fame or fortune. Expect obscurity and poverty. That's what most of us in this business get... oh, you can make enough to live on if you're competant and ready to work, but don't expect a summer house on the Riviera.

Join a dance class, singing lessons and a theatre group- that'll get you started. Then audition for some plays or theatre shows that are going to be put up- maybe at a college, school, church (ect.)
