I live in a small town with about 99.9 percet white and 0.1 percent black. The guys in my grade( and girls) will sometimes say something like "your my main *****". Do they not understand that this is actually REALLY offensive to blacks? They think theyre all "gangster" and whatnot. When is somebody going to knock some sense into them. What do oyu think? Do any of you see any of this in your small mostly white towns.

These certain people are the ones who listen to rap. Who else thinks that offensive words such as ****.er, bit.ch, etc should be diminished from music industry. What can I do for this?

Personally, I detest the term. I find it offensive even in rap music.

I have heard that term from many, many more blacks than I have from whites. Or is that acceptable when coming from a black? I don't know, maybe it is. But it would seem to me if it is such an offensive word blacks would definitely not use it when addressing one another.
As for the end of your question, I live in a town of 1500 and there are a couple black people who live here. As far as I know they haven't had any problems.

Well, I am white and what I've been told (from several of my black friends) is that it is ok to call another black person the "n" word, but not for a white person to a black. If I had a black person call me a cra*ker, then I would be offended (unless they were my friend). It's just a social clash thing and just a word. If white people are saying it, then tell them to move up by me and I will have my people have word with them! ;-) (that's meant to be taken lightly)
I am glad this question is posed, it teaches us and lets us acknowledge the social differences that exists within our society.

First of all, the word you seek is "gangsta," not "gangster" which is white in origin. That N word is also offensive to a lot of us hippie whites as it is extremely hurtful to our black friends whom use the word "******" in an attempt to defuse or at least to minimize the very personal pain generations of crackers, ofays and whiteys their parents and further back endured. Let them have it in peace. Nearest small white town to me would be Fernley as we do have Afro people in the Reno/Sparks area and Fernley is pretty country, so our blacks there are cowboys too and not into the "false gangsta cult" which was actually started by white music promoters, not black money. Tupac Shakur, Eminem were both lured by the money involved as neither possessed enough talent to make it on their own,; they relied on the gangsta gimmick to pass muster and sell records.
Hopefully your small town will be kind to the few black families
able to move there as all they want are decent schools, clean homes and regular jobs just like the white folks. You seem fairly friendly/neighborly towards your .01 percent so start refering to them as Americans too as you sound like a member of what I call the "healing" generation. My parents absolutely hated black people, I joined CORE and SNCC (I'm
a whiteboy) and demonstrated for equality, the generation after mine was somewhat of an improvement, but with yours from what I've seen on Y!A, most of you would rather hug than have to tolerate another human being and for that, thank you for your daring and being comfortable with it.

They probably have no idea what they're doing and what impact it has since it is basically an all-white community. The only way to stop it is to keep telling them it's wrong, and maybe open their eyes a little as to why you can't say it.

Those guys and girls are repeating what they have been taught by their music and their TV. Another point to consider is that each person decides what "offends" them, you can be "offended" by anything or you can laugh at dumb statements.
