According to the crew chief, Piniella made contact with the leg of the third base umpire in his dirt kicking shenanigans. Lou got off light. Consider him lucky it's only 4 games; it could've been much more. Doesn't matter if it was intentional or not, you don't touch the umps.

Of course it was too harsh. Four games is a totally arbitrary number. Guys sometimes don't even get that many games when they throw at someone's head.

Yes, the umpire violated a fundamental freedom (freedom of demonstration).
The umpire needs to be put on trial for abuse of human rights.

It is fun to watch him get thrown out of a game. He has been doing that since he started playing in the minors, so yeah it is fair.

Did you like Pinella's outburst? Did it remind you of your trailer park neighbors' antics?

Yeah. It's a steaming pantload of crap.
Even if he made contact, it was incidental and unintentional. The umpire is probably lying about it. No one is more of an egotistical windbag punk than an umpire, except for maybe Curt Schilling. . . .

No, the suspension is too lenient. The idiot should not be allowed in a ballpark after that ridiculous blowup.

I think it was a childish demonstration.
I am not sure what I would do - he is too big to spank.
