Male or female, need answer fast.

You can but you shouldn't. Bamboo is not an aquatic plant and will eventually die in your tank if not allowed to stick up out of the water and grow leaves.

Further, the stalks can be a bit rough and can scrape fish as they swim around the bamboo.

its fine -- but you should be forewarned "lucky bamboo" is not bamboo -- it is a dracaena that is a common houseplant. the plant will not grow well like that and will eventually die -- even though it might take a couple years. because it isn't a water plant it won't help with filtering toxins out of the water much. it will add a few as it decays.

its not creating a big problem but its not exactly beneficial either.

Well bamboo is not an aquatic plant so I dont reccomend it. i would say a nice little java fern would look nice with a nice round rock. but if u want its ur betta but not reccomend it

yep, u can, in fact i prefer stalks because they make the bettas feal like they have shelter, and i keep at least 2 stalks with mine, hope i helped in time

As long as they can get to the surface of the water it's OK. They don't eat the plant.

So long as it is in a tank with a heater and proper filtration and not a vase.
