If you are referring to the Custer Fight, or the Battle of the Little Big Horn, it commenced on 25 June 1876 around 0900 hours on a Saturday morning. It lasted barely an hour leaving two survivors: a Crow Indian scout who escaped after changing his hair style to match a Sioux warrior's hair, and Comanche, a black gelding owned by Captain Keogh of one of Custer's companies.

If you are referring to the source of the Little Big Horn river I imagine it begins northwesterly in Canada and Montana.
