Robert Francis Kennedy was known for being a man of convictions. He was as you know Attorney General when his brother was President. During this time he took on organized crime and made many enemies. He stood up for what was right and stared down those who would embrace evil. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he was the calm behind the storm, the brains who spoke to the Russians and helped influence the American line of thought. He embraced the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King. It was Mr. Kennedy who at a political rally for his run for the office of president, told a group of black supporters of the assassination of Dr. King and urged non violence in their reaction, to preserve the message of peace promoted by Dr. King. Perhaps mostly for many, he is best remembered for as what would have been had he lived. A man with dreams and aspirations left unfulfilled.

He was on his way to being nominated as the Democratic candidate for President in 1968 when he was assassinated after the California primary.
The links below are, in order, his Congressional bio, information about a proposed memorial in his honor, and a link to a foundation in North Dakota named for him.
