while formatting your primary hard disk partititon. How do i remedy this? i am trying to reinstall windows but having trouble formatting the hard drive?

Sounds as if the hard drive is starting to go bad. If you have patience and time, try repartitioning the drive to a different size and see if you can complete the format. (maybe smaller) You may be able to get the newer partition outside of the bad spot. If you can complete the format, get a new drive. This was only a check to see if a spot is going bad and it's not worth losing data in a few months.

Possibly a bad hard drive.

One thing you can do is if you have another computer, install your hardrive in it as a slave and run a complete scan of it. The scan will tell you if the hd has disc surface errors.

Hi. The partition must be large enough for the install. You may have to double check this.

It sounds like hard drive has bad tracks.
