Did you know?

More than half of all apples grown in the United States for fresh eating come from orchards in Washington state.

Washington apples are sold in all 50 states and more than 40 countries.

10 - 12 billion apples are handpicked in Washington State each year.

If you put all of the Washington State apples picked in a year side-by-side, they would circle the Earth 12 times.

I think that is why it is the state fruit.

Washington simply grows some of the best apples in the country--that's why I would guess it's the state fruit.

Most of the stores I've been in here on the east coast usually make sure it's mentioned in their ads if they've got Washington state apples in stock.

Enjoy your apple pie--or maybe you might look into making some applesauce with those state treasures. :-)

Because of abundance of apple orchards in the state, it was a logical choice.
