I haven't read any of the other responses, so I have no idea what they said and am not influenced by them...

Honest initial reaction:
Creepy Irish gardner.
Elaboration:
Sort of rumpled and dirty, unshaven. Messy long, stringy hair under one of those old man caps. Exactly the kind of guy you'd expect to meet on a dark and stormy night when the bridge floods and you drive up to the old abandoned mansion to seek shelter. Shaygan's the kind of guy who walks into the road and tells you he's the caretaker who lives in the guesthouse. And the mansion turns out to be haunted.

I like this name. Very original. It seems more of an adolescent name though. I could see him as a down to earth cool guy that everybody likes in high school. Maybe long hair. Kinda new age hippy looking. Not a professional sounding name. This name the guy makes his own destiny but in a mellow way and on a winding road. Sounds like a nice guy.

It depends, is it an ethnic name that some friends of the same ethnicity may have? Or is it something you just made up? If you just made it up, I can say it sounds very gay. People may even go around calling him What'shaygan? which would be a nightmare. He would probably change it by the second grade.
Shay would be better than Shaygan.

I hear Showgun! LOL but as a nickname Shay is cute!

With all my kids I did this, Imagine their graduation ceremony and how his name will sound as they call him to recieve his diploma. Will it be a name he's proud of, or a name he's going to be embarrased by, same rule applies to his wedding day. I'm all for naming kids something unique but let's face it these babies grow up to be adults and will eventually be looking for jobs and having a weird or silly name on a resume isn't going to help them.

I think he will feel about his name what ever you project in it. I have two sons, one named Gilgamesh and the other named Artigerous. Gilgamesh is very proud of his name, is NOT teased about his name at all, (and we live in a very small town). Artigerous has been Tigger since he was tiny, so I dont really know how he feels about his name, but no one teases him about his name either. I dont think people really tease children about their names anymore. there is just so much diversity in this country we cant all be called sally and johnny.

I am not a fan, but it is different. I see a guy with scraggly, musician hair. He probably plays an instrument, or goes to art school. Easy-going. Fun to be around.

A tough kid that has been teased in school for 12+ years. Imagine yourself in the 2nd grade with a kid that has that name to work with.
