The best thing that people can do is work to keep their habitat in good order.

Pandas will probably never go extinct... they have the potential to go extinct in the wild but chances are there will always be captive species. There are a handful of species out there that are extinct in the wild but captive poplulations still survive.

Anyway breeding is not really a problem in captive and there is great potential for breed and release programs in Asia... however if there is no land or better yet, food for the wild popluations there is no chance for them to survive.
