The earliest age at which you can legally take over some of the responsibilities of adulthood from your guardian is 16.
To do this, you will need to apply to the local court in your district to "remove the disability of minority" (you are having your status as a minor largely removed). If the court grants this, you will be able to sign a lease and enter various other legal contracts on your own and your guardians will have much less say in what you do. Generally the courts will want to see that you have a job and are capable of taking care of yourself before they do this... once it is granted your guardians are no longer required to take care of you at all. You will also no longer be considered a minor if you are arrested for a crime or the like.
If you do not go through the courts, then you are legally an adult at the age of 18, with all the rights, priveleges, and responsibilities that come from that.

The age of majority is eighteen. until you commit a considerable legal, wherein case you will be tried, convicted and sentenced as an person in the previous you turn 17. doubtlessly being CRIMINALLY in charge as an person at 17 would not make you a criminal person because of the fact the above poster is making an attempt to argue. reckoning on the crime and the criminal, 12 365 days olds have been charged as adults interior the State of Texas. this would not mean that a 12 365 days previous is a criminal person for the different purpose yet in criminal court docket. It basically capacity that Texas needs to flow 17 365 days previous criminals into the person justice device.

The legal age in Texas is 17. You can look into the Texas Family Code for more information on this subject. You can file for emancipation from your guardian - and be deemed legally responsible for yourself. The link to the Family Code is :
