When you will realize that you put this question in the wrong category, you'll be even _more_ sleepless.
Seriously, don't watch TV, use a computer or eat before going to bed, do a crossword puzzle instead. If that doesn't help, don't go to bed and force yourself to sleep, but take a quiet stroll around the neigbourhood. Remove everything from the bedroom that's not related to sleep. Drink some warm milk with honey. Take a warm shower or bath. Take a not-too-exiting book to bed.

ambien. i think it might be prescription. take some tylenol pm if you can't get the good ****. it's got codeine in it. if you get some cough syrup, that'll work. find some hydrocodeine or other opiates and you are straight. smoke some pot an hour before bed time.
healthier alternatives: limit your napping (no more than 15 mins). exercise. tire your damn body out. read a book in bed. turn off the tv and turn the clock away from you.

I am having the same troubles falling asleep, just last night it took me nearly 4 hours. I wouldn't take any prescription drugs, because they have some bad side affects. Try going to the health food store and getting Melatonin, it helps relax you. You can also try changing around your sleep environment.
