Gee I was disappointed in some of the answers. Because my Dad was in the Navy many years ago, and my Mother used to make us Navy bean soup/ I will say the good old white Navy bean. Give me some Navy beans, fried potato's and corn bread and I am in hog heaven. I am a depression baby, where those 3 items were about the cheapest thing you could buy, that fill you up. In the old Navy they dad Beans for Tuesday dinner and for Wednesday breakfast. it was served with Catsup( called red lead) in the old Navy. restaurant I go to has Navy bean soup every Tuesday, and it always sells out. The cook has it ready when I get there at 9 AM for breakfast, so I can tell him how good it is.
