Are you planning to keep only fish, or are you looking to get some invertebrates in the tank?
For fish only, what you have should be enough (although a protein skimmer is recommended, you don't absolutely need to have one, and you can wait to see how well the biowheels handle the wastes before deciding if you need one). They're more advseable if you're trying to keep inverts, because they're more sensitive to water quality.
Another source of biofiltration is to use live rock in your tank - this also makes a more realistic setting and can provide hiding spots for your fish. Plus you never know what will show up as a hitchhiker - I've gotten sea urchins, sea stars, clams, shrimp, sponges, and corals.

sell your two filters and get a sump with bio balls, and protien skimmer, and live rock(min one pound per gallon) and you'll need a few power heads, and live sand. let nature do your filtraton(and a protein skimmer), your fish will live longer, and happier, your two filers will take good bacteria out of the water as well as the bad. good luck. Salt water is definatly more pleasing to watch. feel free to e-mail me stick0014@yahoo.ca. I have a 125 gallon, 140 lbs live rock, 4 power heads, 40 gallon sump, 225 gallon protien skimer, and 40 lbs of live sand, my fish, coral and invertabrates are doing great.

I have one emperor on my 55 gallon and its going good, but those things are big so make sure you have room for your protein skimmer.

equipment: Salt mixture (specialized marine salt) Hydrometer Powerhead (ur case 525 g/h or around it as much as 550or on the factor of it) Sand stay rock (after the tank has cycled) Starter fish (in spite of is maximum inexpensive and hardy) Heater (26 stages celcius/ seventy 9 fahrenheit) exterior filter out (carry-on, canister or sump) nitrite attempt nitrate attempt the 1st step Empty and sparkling previous tank thoroughly, put in the mandatory quantity of salt (shop on with practise in spite of the incontrovertible fact that throughout common terms upload 3/4 of what it says) upload water (and dechlorinator or finished water therapy for city water) Step 2 Fill the tank up 80-ninety% set up the powerhead to enable it mixture. Wait an hour or so then attempt salinity utilising hydrometer (it shud be between a million.021-a million.0.5) upload sand and decor. precise up the tank to finished ability and examine salinity. (regulate) set up heater and filter out. Step 3 enable it run for a pair of days till now including one or 2 fish. After the fish has been extra. examine for nitrites after a week and examine on an generic basis till it has peaked and dropped to '0'. as quickly because it has dropped fulfillment. Your tank is waiting for extra fish. upload fish in pairs. 2 fish a week (to sidestep extremes in water) as quickly as the nitrites have dropped attempt for nitrates as quickly as a week. exchange water while it will develop 100PPM or 20PPM in case you have corals. study the fish and their standards. i began out with one percula clown and now I certainly have 4 2 pairs. i does no longer purchase from the internet simply by fact there are no guarentees. the closest saltwater petstore to me is two hundred km in spite of the incontrovertible fact that it incredibly is extra effective simply by fact endurance is important in a marine tank (simply by fact i won't be able to easily pass to the shop daily the water continues to be consistent) i could be paying for too plenty stuff in any different case.

I think it should be fine as long as there aren't a lot of current in the tank.
