I went to the dentist last Wednesday and all went well,
I went back on Thursday and after they injected me with
the novacaine, I had a panic attack right there ! Apparantely,
it contains adrenaline, and I'm already on meds for anxiety,
but this had never happened before ! Now I have to go back
tomorrow at 1:00 pm ! I'm just plain terrified now !

Let the dentist know your fears they should be able to help. Now a days we should not be as frightened as we once were. They are now taught to be more sensitive and encouraging! We should never be afraid to go... I say full steam ahead Fran keep your pearly whites in that condition!

I have panic attacks as well, and going to the dentist is a major freak out event for me.

Here's what I do to stay calm: I hold a coin in my hand (preferably a quarter or half dollar), and tap it on the armrest or continuously flip it with my fingers. I keep my mind focused of the noise of it on the arm rest, or the motion of it flipping in my hand. Then, you don't really think about being in a dentist office.

Hope this helps and best of luck to you!

take your iPod or similar device And figure out the worst thing that can happen to you, and be OK with it.

You will be fine. I have had 5 years of braces, and 6 mouth operations. No matter what yougo through, it probably won't be longer than 1/2-1 hour.

I take a light pain pill before I go, this way I don't get upset.
Just the thought of dentists can do it.

I took a gravol a half hour before I went. I wore my Ipod, and cranked it. Also, deep breaths...in through the nose, hold it for 5 seconds, and let it out slowly through the mouth. It works for me every time. Good luck.

No matter what, you're going to have to go because your parents are going to make you go. There's nothing you can change about that. I'd just advise you to let yourself know that you're not going to a slaughterhouse or anything deathly.

tell them you have a fear and they will more than likely cater to you. my dad was petrified but the technician was really gentle and they even gave him a lavender heat wrap for his neck. relax and dont think about it until tomorrow.
