My first answer was going to be yes. After researching it however it seems that the medical advice is that it doesn't do any good and some medical advice says that urine can even release more venom.
That being said, people who have actually been stung say that it does work. My educated guess would be that it depends on how much acid a person's urine contains. The best remedy seems to be vinegar--this was the consensus from most sites. Wow, I learned something today, lol.

If there is no resource for immediate medical attention, then the urea (acid) and ammonia in the urine help to neutralize the toxins from the sting of jellyfish, stingrays and other poisonous oceanic animals.

Yes...I had heard it before AND it was recently on Oprah.
Vinegar was the #1 remedy, but peeing was also a remedy (not as good as vinegar). Somehow it reacts with the sting venom and neutralizes it.

No-its not the only way. That is what you do if that was your last possibility and you were stranded. You would go to a doctor-unless you were unlable to reach one. The pee is like a reliver to it, it doesn't cure it.
I hope this helped :)
