I would personally recommend using an external hard drive to transfer your essential files from the older computer to the new one. To do this all you need to do is transfer the files off the old computer onto the external hard drive, (specifics on how to do this depend on what type of external hard drive you have) and then transfer the files to the new computer from the external hard drive.
Best of luck!

If you have a USB flash memory drive, then you should be able to plug that into the older computer, and save it all to that removable drive, then plug it into your newer computer and extract the files, unless the older computer doesn't have a flash drive, then I don't know.
Although the flash drive probably wouldn't be big enough to store all that much...You could use an Ethernet cable and plug the two computers directly together, I believe that would work. Unless of course your older computer doesn't have an Ethernet port...yea, the Ethernet cable is like a phone cord, but bigger on the end...

No offense intended here, but if you need to ask that question i suggest you get a professional computer tech. to help you do this as it can become quite a problem if done wrong.
it can be done by taking out your old hard drive and making it a slave drive and connecting it to your new computer and doing file transfers from the old to the new.

I suggest for EASE, go to Worldstart.com, Software store, on the lefthand side see Cool Gadgets? Click on this, go to the 2nd page, scroll down to USB to USB Direct Net Link Cable, $20.97, Shipping free in USA. Transfers your data in USB 2.0 speeds,(but if we're talking an OLD computer here it'll be in USB 1.0 speed, 10 times serial port speed)

Make an "Image" of your hard drive with acronis, or norton ghost. An image is basically a snapshot of your current programs, files, settings, etc. burn them to a cd, or dvd (it is recommended) then transfer them. It is also a backup in case something happens to your pc. Good luck~

If you or somebody has a hub or router and two patch cables, and enable file and print sharing, you can use the newer one to copy files over from the old one.

Hi. One free way is to remove the hard drive from the old machine and install it as a slave in the new one. Then just copy what you want.
