I have a dell inspiron and it won't turn on. I've tried every plug in my house. For awhile, it was saying it didn't recognize my cord and then if I just plug it into ac , it was fine but now it will not turn on whatsoever. I have important on there, please help.

As long as your harddrive didn't crash, your data is probably fine. However, you need to find out why it won't turn on. Do you have a warranty? If yes, Dell will help you out online or by phone. Alternatively, you can take your computer to a local repair shop.

By the way, you are using the original power cable that came with the computer, right?

What inspirion is it? You can try to remove the battery then turn it on or try to start only on ac adapter. Didnt work? Then or you call Dell or you try to strip the laptop by removing:
Optical drive
Harddrive
Battery
---- turn it upside down---
open the hatch of the memory and remove one
try to startup again.

i will hear if you did that or called dell

if it was wrong cord you may have done some damage. have to use the right one dear. if it was not the right one maybe it didnt charge.
