I'm gay and been in a relationship with this guy for 3 years. We've only made "love" twice and I have a problem with that. If you're in a relationship, in particular a gay male relationship, how often do you and your partner make "love"?

I am gay and I've been in a relationship for 3 years and have only made love twice to my partner. We have sex somewhat frequently (2 or 3 times a week). As a 27 y/o, my sex drive is 10 times that of his, so I am wondering if other gay relationships have experienced similarly and how often do you make love?

Oh, one last thing...what should I do? I've talked to him about it and it's still not happening, he's lied about j/o behind my back and has told me that he's thought about other past experiences previous to me while he's engaging in sex with me. I asked him to stop both or I would leave. He continues to promise me that he's not doing that anymore.

Sweetheart, do you want sex or making love? it seems there is a discrepancy in that evaluation. Set an appointment to talk to him. Let him know how you are feeling. Let that be the basis of your decision STAY OR NOT.

Well, two religious nut jobs answer this question negatively, what a surprise.
If your in a relationship and are 16 to 99 you should be doing this regularly. That means anywhere from a couple times a day to a couple times a week depending on age, time available, physical ability, access to privacy to engage in sex....etc.
Two times in three years, someone has a problem almost certainly guilt driven usually by old religious doctrine that tells them what they feel is bad and that sex with another man is wrong....same old crap!
Time to confront the issue and move on. This is not practical and if your having problems with the frequency then this relationship will not last.

OH-kay, I just read your newly added additional details.
What in the name of standard English do you mean that you've made love twice in 3 years AND have sex 2 or 3 times a week??? As Julie Newmar said in the days of my long-gone youth, "This does not compute!"

at the beginning of the relationship a couple times a day. As time progresses almost every day and by three years in young, hot blooded men, four times a week at least. Something is NOT kosher if you had intimacy only twice in three years.

SuperMary and ThatGuy: He's not looking for judgment, by the way.
While I'm not gay, I have been in a relationship for 3 years. I would talk to your partner about your feelings. That's really the only thing you can do. I hope everything works out!

If your lover is truly gay, I would think he would have just as healthy of a sex drive as any other man or woman out there, gay, bi or hetero. The fact that he has been willing to 'give it up' only a couple times during the past three years leads me to question his desires, for you or for men in general. I recommend you talk it over with him.

Usually, whatever is comfortable for both partners. Every person has a different drive to have sex. You really should bring it up with him. If you've been together 3 years, you should be comfortable talking to him by now.

I'm assuming by your additional details that you regard sex and making love as different things.
Perhaps you and your partner aren't right for each other. Maybe you should take a break from each other for a while.
