If at all possible, avoid purchasing a Ford of any model. Even if you find a great deal, you will wind up paying more in the long run because of maintenance costs. Fords invevitably develop problems with virtually all of the electrical systems. You will find yourself with door lights that don't turn off, windshield wipers that randomly turn themselves on, and a multitude of shorts among your displays. Also, the shorts have from time to time been bad enough in some autos to lead to spontaneous combustion - my mom lost her van that way.

Right now I'd say Chevrolet. They have a few better pickups, the SUV's are a toss up. The Chevy cars are are better right now. Ford is redoing most of their fleet. The only home run for Ford is the Mustang. Chevy doesn't have a direct competitor to it until the new Camaro comes out. I'm going by the test drives I made and I drove lots of each before I bought a Honda.

Most recently, Ford has been a better manufacturer. They have a better selection of vehicles and are taking steps to be competitive with the Asian auto makers.
