I drive an 01' Honda Accord. The "maintenance required" light came on the other day. Not "check engine" I still had a techs check for codes and code P1676 & P1259 were active..I haven't noticed any problem with my car but wondering what this all means. I though that the CK engine light was suppose to come on if any codes were present. If the light doesn't come on then should I not worry about it? What do those codes mean? What should I do? Please help. =0)

What do the codes mean?

The "maintenance required" light means to get an oil change (and other scheduled maintenance). It needs to be reset after an oil change. Here is how to reset it:
Put the key in the ignition, but do not turn it.
Push and hold the odometer reset button.
Turn the key to the ON position while holding the odometer reset button.
Hold for 10 seconds and then turn the key to OFF after the "maintenance required" light turns off.

P1676: Traction Control System FI Data Line No Signal
P1259: Honda VTEC System Malfunction

The check engine light does not come on if the codes are pending. That's why pending codes can be read when the check engine light is not on.

P1259 means that the variable valve timing isn't working properly. Something is wrong with the engine or controller. Or the engine is low on oil. An oil change sometimes fixes this problem because low oil pressure shuts down the VTEC feature. Check your oil level. If it's full, did you recently have an oil change? Perhaps the wrong viscosity of oil was used. If that's the case, another oil change is required with 5W-20 oil.

P1676 means that the computer can't communicate with the traction control system. Either the wiring or the PCM is bad. Or the system is fine, and the computer accidentally put out the code.
