I am starting to get a set up for a leopard gecko, and I read online that undertank heaters work well. A friend has one that she used for a hermit crab (it says hermit crab right on it) and I was wondering if that would work for a leopard gecko or not. Please help as I would like to do this right. Thank you.

yes you can use it you need to hook it up to a thermostat exoterra makes them they cost about $20-$30 any pet store should have them . may need another heater or 2 also depending on size of tank your going to put the gecko in 1 or 2 may work i dont know but just hook them up to the thermostat it will cut the heaters off at whatever temprature you choose for geckos set it where it will cut off at 90 degrees f they dont need anything hotter . get a thermometer & a hygrometer too they cost like $3 ea make sure the hummidity is around 70 . good luck with your new pets

Leopard gecko, hate to declare it yet hermit crabs, are properly hermits, they sit down of their shell all day and dont do incredibly something, and my opinion grotesque, with leo's you could very almost form a bond with them, they income your have faith, basic to look after. and that they look incredibly cool! Hermit crabs in my opinion are like staring at rocks. So i might pass with the leo.

yes it would, just be sure to give him some place a little cooler to go to like a piece of wood just in case it is warmer than it wants.
