the books say hamsters don't like to be together, so keep them apart, and they live about 2-3 years, so if they didn't live long, it could have just been their life span, I have had three, each lasted about 2 and a half years

hampsters dont usually live in pairs, they are more of solitary creatures. if you really want to have two, have a seperate cage next to the original one. keep the hamptsers seperate for a few days, so they can get used to each other, then give them a little time together but if they start to fight then seperate them, give them a little time together every day until they can be put together permanently. (the second cage doesnt have to be full size, it could be a smallish carrying case, not too small though.)

Well if i were you i would put them in the same house and be extra care full, to see if they're fighting. If they start to fight put them in two separate houses, and make sure you spend time with them. If you feel like it take them out at the same time and have two different people hold them so they can see each other, and see how it works out.

Hamsters are solitary animals and do not do well when housed together. It is not recommended due to high incidence of fighting, even among males and females.

ok, hamsters dont live together, they might when they are young, but later on, they will kill each other. The only time you have hasmters together is if they are dwarf hamsters and they came from the same litter
