It's suppoused to be a heart! (though it doesn't look like one! lol)
Example: I <3 u means: I love you.

I wondered the same thing until someone told me it's supposed to be a heart. But it reads like I is less than 3. LOL. If you tilt your head sideways it just looks like an ice cream cone. Go figure. I think it's stupid. LOL
