I would like to shower with my 7-month-old son, I know my sister-in-law did this with her babies. I did it once before, but my hubby was right outside the shower. I would like to be able to do this when he might not be available.
Does anyone do this, and if so, do you have any tips, safety or otherwise? He is so slippery when he is wet and soapy, does anyone have any tried-and-true techniques on showering with their baby?
Thanks!

Get a big towel, like a beach towel, and place it so that it is over one shoulder and covering your arm on the same side. This will make it easier to wash the baby front and back. Have a bouncy seat (or something) right next to the tub with a warm towel or blanket in it. When baby is clean, place him in there, wrapped up, until you are done.

Ok to this question well I have done this with a few of my 6 children and have yet to have an accident!
One Make sure that you place a towel on the floor of the tub, one it makes the floor less slippery for your sake so you do not fall, second it makes it easier for you to set the baby down on a soft surface if you need to!
Two, Make sure that you wrap your baby in a soft towel to prevent him/her from falling or slipping out of your arms!
Hope this helps! Happy showering! Have a great day!!!!

i have only done this a few times ,my son didnt like it so i dont any more!if you shower with him and put a baby bath seat at the other end you can sit him in it until you get out incase you slip, also put an anti slip mat in the bottom of the bath as far as him being slippy if you hold him through his leg rather than under his arms, almost like you would a new bornthen he wont slip sorry its hard toexplain when your doing it from memory!! you could also put a changing mat and towel on the floor then put him straight on here wrap him up then grab your towel.hope this helps tried not to rambleon!!

Well, I am deffinatly too young to know this. But, I think you should not do this. There are to many hazards. 1. The baby is slippery and you might drop him. 2. If you slip. 3. You are more likely to get soap in his eyes when you are with him. There are also many more reasons. It would be safer if you just give him a bath. I hope this helppeddd.

I remember doing this with both my littles but don't remember how i accomplished it with out them dropping. They are really slippery. I would recommend bath instead of shower, but i didn't have a full bath so it was showers for all.

this might sound stupid, but my son hated baths and being soaked in water and the only way i could get him to bathe without crying was to shower with him..so what did i do? since he was so slippery, i decided to put a plastic chair in the bathtub(like those fold up chairs)..i know it sounds rediculous but it worked for me....i was able to sit him on my lap and not worry about dropping him or anything..

is he sitting up by himself yet? if he is then lay a small towl on the floor of the shower and seat him on that so he doesnt slip as eaasliy. if he isnt sitting by himself, drape a hand towel over the arm you are holding him with. it will give alot more grip and he can still be cleaned. i have also used one of those bath seats/rings that suction to the floor and he can enjoy the splashing water without falling over. i did it with my two and now they love showers, its now easier than having to fill the bath and i kill 2 birds with one stone by getting my shower aswell. because of his age he may find the water on his face a bit annoying, just point the shower head away from him. enjoy.

My husband does it. But I'm always scared because I think I will drop him or something. I will take a bath with him sometimes. My husband washes the baby, then lets him sit in the shower and washes himself.

I think that you should not shower with your child due to hazards. Try sitting in the tub with your child if you insist on bathing with him. Some people may feel a mother should not bath with her son. How do you bath when you have baby in the tub with you and are you concerned about your bodies (don't know how to put this any other way) dirt being exposed to your child. Different strokes for different folks.

I tried it, and I found that baby was much too slippery. Try taking a bath with him instead.
