Probably mating behavior. it's also possible that the fish is just trying to dig a cave to feel protected. Be sure the rocks are situated in such a way as to prevent them from falling on the fish if they dig too much.

Cichlids will sometimes do this before mating or laying eggs. BUt for the most part, cichlids love to redecorate. They dig holes, uproot plants, and knock things over, and build large piles of gravel. They do this for thier own amusement. Its something that they will continue to do. If you dont like it, then remove the gravel and place larger rocks and stones that they cant pick up or move. Cichlids actually like a tank without gravel.

The story unfolds as a mating cichlid becomes the main character. Such activity can only mean one thing. I have come to know this as mating, your fish are participating in it's activity only for a mating, a well prepared nest is being created.
Good Luck, (Make sure the fry eat crushed up food ;)

in basic terms because of the fact its on youtube doesnt advise its surprising. For the main area, Africans are slightly too rowdy for the individuals. each and every from time to time, you will get a stable mixture however, yet maximum individuals get alot greater advantageous than the Africans, so as that would desire to grow to be a situation. besides, the fout foot tank you have is maximum in all risk in basic terms large sufficient for the dempseys. Its in all risk sixty 5-ninety gallons. in case you have a pair of dempseys, Im uncertain why you attempt to function issues, they'll in basic terms be killed...
