Race matters because my son and I are African American. I was mistreated in public school due to my skin color and currently employed at a public middle school where I see the same type of segregation going on with class-room behavior and grades. I don't want my son to suffer due to the ignorance of racist ideaologies. We have a long time before he actually enters school-attending age so this is just a little brain storming. Thank you for your opinions.

In my opinion:

Catholic schools provide a very good moral and religious base for children. As a rule they are also safer than public schools.

Educationally, most of them are above average. Although some are exceptionally good and a very few are bad. Your school or the diocese should have some test scores for comparison.

In general, Catholic schools do a good job with average and above average kids.

However the resources of most Catholic schools in the united States are limited. If students need extra attention due to being way over or way under average, then their needs may not be properly met.

With love in Christ.

catholic schools will be private - hence the separation of church and state. it's going to depend on the school. and the person. if you're religous, go to catholic school. if not, private. then again, i went to an episcopalian school and we got a few jewish holidays off, and had a very diverse student body. i would got with the more diverse campus, cause if you end up around a buncha rich white-folk, they could be standoffish or cliqueish.

i suggest a campus visit to get a feel for the students and teachers.

Christian (not Catholic) Schools would be better
for all children. They teach true history and good
morals, and they far exceed the public schools.
Oh yes, and there's no teachers putting the make
on students, no pregnant students, no fights, and
no shootings.

I would say public schools are fine. No matter what, teachers have to have graduated from college, so I don't think it really matters if it's public or private. Just my opinion...

What does race have to do with what school is better? You can put any child in any school and if the parents are there backing them up, teaching them how to learn and seeing they do the work, it won't make any difference what school they are in!

It depends on the child and the school, not the category of the school. Certainly the child's "race" is virtually irrelevant!
