Not an impossible job to do yourself. If you have some mechanical skills you can find instructions on how to replace it here:

The labor for the pump is .8 hours, book time. The price of the parts will range depending on the parts you use. If they also do the fuel filter that would change the price and time as well.
I think it is a job you could tackle yourself, depending on your skills. I also recommend getting a repair manual if you decide to.
Otherwise, I would really leave this up to a shop. The book time is not much, depending on the labor rate in your area, it's just not that much. $60 (based on a $75 rate) is a deal to have someone else do that work. Just find out which brand of parts they are using and call around for an idea of the cost of those parts. Get a few estimates from different shops.

Unless you are really handy, and have been working on cars for a while pay a shop to do it. While it is not at all impossible for the home mechanic to do, it is not a good first project. You have to remove the rear seat cushion to get to the tank, and the pump is located within the fuel tank. You probably don't have a brass drift to remove the retaining ring, and a spark from a steel one could explode your tank. If you pay a shop you have warranty on parts and labour. If you get a Haynes manual, which covers 1991 through 2000 models, it has a good step-by-step description and pictures. You can also check this site to see if it is a project you may want to tackle yourself.
