I'm 26 weeks pregnant and it seems like overnight things have become uncomfortable. Sleeping positions, heartburn, and everything makes me tired. Ugh.... Anyways, I was wondering how you guys kept up with shaving since it's becoming hard. Thanks=)

Aside from the morning sickness for the first 18 weeks, it was around 20 weeks that normal activities began getting more challenging. Even though I didn't have a belly, it was much thicker and I couldn't bend the same. Placing my coffee or purse on the ground while chatting with friends was no longer an easy feat to do. Next thing I noticed was that it was actually getting hard to get my arm around to wipe myself after going to the bathroom because I couldn't twist all the way anymore. It wasn't something I had even considered would be an issue.

Next was a few weeks later when the bump started showing. All of a sudden I had to put the steering wheel up on the car a notch because they were touching. I have to move the seat all the way back in both the car and the van to get in and out without any major issues. The car is easy to get into, a pain to get out of because it is so low, the van being so high is the opposite. Shaving my legs became interesting at this point. Sitting in the tub to do it was impossible. Now I stand in the shower (ya I know, bad bad bad because you could fall but I do it anyways). Next shaving attempt will probably be me sitting on the vanity with my feet on the toilet since I can still reach my ankles that way LOL. I'll mop up afterwards.

I'm at 31 weeks now and getting up and down from the couch or my big comfy chair is a challenge. If I sit on the floor to play with my cats (which I do without even thinking) I have to get on my hands and knees and then use the furniture around me to get myself back up again. I discovered the other day that it is very difficult to reach into the bottom of the washer to grab that last sock or forgotten nickel that went through. In the other direction reaching up for something on a shelf and my belly gets in the way.

Oh, and get a pair of shoes you can slip on and off without having to tie or adjust!!

I've learned to live with the heartburn as it has been with me pretty much from day one of this pregnancy. I bought a body pillow and hubby is now sleeping on the couch most nights (but that's because I snore like a freight train since getting pregnant, the only position I don't snore in is on my belly and that position is out of the question LOL). Getting out of bed means dropping my legs down first and then pushing myself into a seated position.

Thankfully I am still in an energetic phase so the tiredness hasn't been an issue but up to about week 24 I was having a nap everyday after work and I was still in bed by 9-10pm sleeping till 6:30. Now I go to bed around 11 (no naps!! yay!!) and baby wakes me at 4:30 to remind me to empty my bladder and then I go back to sleep. Even on weekends though I am still wide awake by 7am (I miss being able to sleep in).

However the biggest adjustment I have had to make is making sure I eat breakfast. I am not a morning eater, I still don't feel hungry in the mornings but I know how important it is so I at least choke back a bowl of cereal on rough mornings. If I have time to give myself a half hour then I can do something more substantial like eggs or pancakes. I still don't like eating it LOL. It's one habit I hope to keep up after the baby is born so that I can teach my child proper eating habits. That's something I didn't learn from my Mom and I really regret that it's not second nature for me to eat regularly and choose healthy foods instead of quick and easy.

Some other changes in habits have been to remember to sit down before trying to put my pants on since I tend to fall to one side if I am standing on one leg! Always use the handrail when going up or down stairs. When doing dishes have a foot stool to place one foot on and alternate as it makes it easier on the back. Stop lifting heavy things! I grab things without thinking and I pay for it with back pains.

You'll find some of these will apply to you and you'll find others I didn't mention. All part and parcel with the changes our bodies go through. Well worth the inconvenience though!

I'm 38 weeks and I hate to say it, it only gets worse. You might want to ask your doctor if you can take something for your heartburn other than just tums. I just started taking Zantac and it has made my life worth living again. Also, a body or pregnancy pillow might help you to sleep at night. I got one at about 26-28 weeks and that night was the first night I had slept more than an hour or two at a time. As for shaving, if anyone has an answer for that let me know. I do the best I can, but I am sure that the day I can see my legs again there will probably be huge patches where I couldn't reach for 3 months. Hope you feel better!!

Well to be honest about the shaving, I didnt shave for SO long, then finally went and get my legs waxed, so im not an Amazon jungle woman when I go into labour, hahah...

Also, I didn't really get uncomfortable during sleep until about 30 weeks. Always had heartburn and nausea thru the whole pregnancy.

Try going to an esthetician and getting a wax job done. You will like the smoothness that lasts for a few weeks. :)

HA... I quit doing that for the most part at about 30 weeks or less( am 38 now ) It depends on how comfortable you are to let things grow. I don't even care at this point, and my husband would, but I dont have enough trust in the world to let any man put a razor near any part of my body! ( I've seen his face after shaving) I trim and tidy up best as possible. I wouldnt worryabout it if I were you... you are already doing alot of work just keeping that little one healthy. All I can say is long skirts. Just remember nair is a no-no ( well that's what I was told)

Good luck, and Congrats!

I quit shaving to be honest!! I really need to do it though because I don't want to go into labor and go into the hospital with hairy legs. And I need my toes painted too. Seems I'll be looking at those for awhile.

I'm 36 weeks and 1 day. Very uncomfortable at this point.. ready for it be over. But my cervix is thick and closed...so it's a no go...atleast not anytime soon.

I think it was when I hit the 3rd trimester things started going down hill. It got hard to sleep right about then. I'm up every two hours now going pee...and everytime I get up or lay down I have to wait a minute to catch my breath...it's very difficult to breath sometimes.

It's almost over though...I'm sorry you have a little longer than I...but if I can do it..you can do it.

Congrads....I am 37 weeks 4 days pregnant with son #2. My first pregnancy was HORRIBLE, I was sick all the time, this one however has been WONDERFUL!!!! I have been very energetic, happy and bubbly, but like you, it seems like over night I started getting uncomfortable. At like 30 weeks. And considering I have been energetic thru the whole thing, I am wondering if being tired is taking the place of the nesting you are supposed to go thru. LOL. As far as shaving, my husband has found this quite enjoyable. LOL. He shaves me, paints my toenails and etc, I think it makes him feel that he is involved besides just going to the docs with me. :-) He kinda likes it. Good luck to you and I know how you are feeling. You dont have much longer.

I didn't shave. I only did before I had a doctors appointment. In fact one time when I was about 37 weeks I shaved the day of my appointment. By then it was really hard to shave. When I got there and got in my robe I realized that I forgot a big area of my leg. Oh well I am sure the Dr is used to it.

I am 37 weeks. I don't have much of a problem shaving my legs, but it bugs me that I'm completely incapable of keeping...the, err, other place...trimmed and neat like I usually do. I can't even see it anymore.

Been mildly uncomfortable since the end of my first trimester. Only started getting uncomfortable in a really major way at week 36.

5 weeks, lol!!!!
Seriously, this has been a hard pregnancy, and i'm only 20 weeks. Its all rough from here out... sorry. But the reward is worth the pain, believe me!!!

I have found the only way to shave is with the razor with the shave cream built in, either the venus or intuition razors.

This pregnancy has been uncomfortable for me since about 20 weeks but it is all worth it. I am very lucky in the shaving dept. my husband has no problem helping me out and shaving me when I need it.

I stopped shaving and started getting my legs waxed. The waxing lasts for like a month...especially if you exfoliate the night before. I just couldn't do the shaving calisthenics anymore!
