My daughter did the same thing at this age for 2 weeks. The doctor said just to be patient and she will pickup again. To my suprise it worked and in fact she picked up her eating after this episode.

Babies should not wean until 6 months at least. She is becoming more aware of her surroundings and trying to interact with the world rather than spending her time eating and sleeping. Get a bigger teat so that she feeds faster and has time to interact. I would also like to know why you have taken her off the breast? Breast milk should be given at least for 6 months if not longer, studies have found that there are fewer allergies, better brain development, closer family bonding, greater concentration and development and reduced incidences of obesity for breast fed children. I would suggest that you try and get her to breast feed at least 3 times day, the skin on skin contact will also reassure the baby and will ensure that she feeds better.

I would have guess teething, but since you're sure it's not, I'd consider something besides being ready to wean. Babies are supposed to nurse for a full two years minimum. They don't have the apparatus for drinking without sucking. Maybe she's finally figured out she's been robbed of her birthright, breastmilk, and is disgusted by the formula.

try an hold off weaning until 6 months. her little organs are not ready for the salt etc. is "real" food. If you really can't wait, start off with just a tiny bit of baby rice. Usually they want more milk when they are ready to wean - i.e. looking for a more regular intake. Have you tried cooled boiled water? could be that she is actually thirsty......good luck

maybe she is ready for a bit of solid food and a quick drink? My youngest went onto solid food at 2 months under advice from Health Visitor as he was on 3pts of milk a day and still hungry. They will let you know when they are ready to move on to a new phase. Try her out on some farley's rice or a rusk mashed in milk. She wont lose out on the milk and vitamins that way.

Are you sure you are feeing her when she is hungry? Children go through spurts where they eat a lot and then they back off for a while. If you have started solids she might be staying fuller longer. Offer the bottle, but if she turns away don't force feed her. Play with her, let her roll around on the floor for a while, then try again.

she could be teething and off the milk, but she would probably want to chew the teat. Try her with a bit of rusk softened in milk, or some of the foods specially formulated in jars, she could want some variety.

She probably had enough, or not hungry. Early weaning is for constantly hungry babies, not one's who turn away from their feed.

She may just not be hungry, or is eating less at a sitting than normal. when babies are hot, they will eat less.Weaning is not happening at 4 months.
