the best player you have to ask yourself this question what player if is hurt or out could your team not win without. Not only best skill or quickness or toughness the smartest player that controls the game ,the player that motivates, that not only plays but has an affect on and field and sidelines this player while defense is on is right by coach all the time, he is a quarterback that he looks at his teams defense when the other team has the ball and he thinks what would he do with the defensive look he sees its Peyton Manning no one manages the game as well as he does he very very seldom makes a mistake look at leadership roll he plays he not only a player he also like a coach thats very important cause at quarterback everyone players ,fans, coaches all look for you to make the impact take the charge be the leader he is I played against him in high school he did that then as well you see the same presence now as i did then thats why i say him.

This question has been asked often in this forum and the answer is still the same. Tomlinson is the best PLAYER in the NFL right now and possibly is the best running back of all time.
He can run, catch, pass and block, really well. He can do anything you ask of him on the field and is a great guy off the field as well. Love him or hate him, you must respect him.
John Madden said last year and here it is again, "LaDainian Tomlinson is the BEST PLAYER in the NFL".
If John says it, it must be so!

Tom Brady
He is the best player to ever come out of a 6th round draft pick. He is not overrated like Peyton Manning who chokes under pressure. Tom is used to the pressure and knows the right strategies to use when under pressure. Brady won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years with a team that no one would die for. Last year, he got a team of 3 to the AFC championship and only lost by 4 points. With the best offense in the NFL the Colts have, Peyton should have 6 Super Bowl rings by now but he only has 1 whereas Tom Brady has 3. He makes great plays and even better passes. Overall, good offense, good defense, best of the best = Tom Brady.

Wow, this is wide open. I'd say Champ Bailey, cornerback for the Denver Broncos. This is a guy that is a shut down defender, but is athletic enough to play offense if needed. Year in and year out he is the most consistent player in the NFL, so I'd go with him.

Im gonna go with a shocker here, Walter Jones, he is the most physiclly intimidating, and hardest working player in the league. When interveiwers ask other players, what its like against him, you get comments like this from recently signed pro bowl DE Patrick Kerney of the Seattle Seahawks. "Its like wrestling a grizzly bear for an hour. Hes the first to show up at practice and one of the last to leave. He never causes trouble and his teammates adore him. He is the heart and soul of that Seattle Chemistry take him away from Seattle and they would play like the Oakland Raiders. He may not be the sexy pick, but in my mind, he is very underated and the best all-around player in the NFL.

Well remember in the NFL (unlike basketball) has 11 offensive 11 defensive and a kicker and punter making a total of 24 starters to only 5 in basketball 6 in hockey, and nine in baseball (10 in the AL w/ DH)
because of this its hard to pick a "best player"
If i had to pick one i would have to say Peyton Manning.
LT is nice and so is Larry Johnson and Steven Jackson, but Peyton Manning is basicially an offensive coordinator on the field and has the ball in his hands every play. His play fakes are some of the best in the league. He has a high completion percentage and a good yards per completion average. He is always changing plays and usually changes them to a better one.
In my opinion a name that dosent get talked about alot is Merriman (SD) he had 16 sacks in only 12 games. Thats an average of 1.25 per game and if you ask any defensive coach in the league sacks kill drives and all coaches are looking for big sack guys. Merriman also covers great ground for a LB and causes fumbles and is good for a couple of INT's each year.

this is a tough one... but i'm going to have to go with tom brady.. its not all about the athletic ability or flashy moves a player makes. Tom brady wins big games and wins in the postseason consistently. Yes he fell short the past two seasons to get to the superbowl, but he has three superbowl rings already and is still young and in his prime. Plus, he has a new england team around him this year that could be dominant... so watch out.

LaDanian Tomlinson.
Although, the guy a few answers down makes a great point. Devin Hester is the fastest player in Madden '08 so he must be the best player in real life.
