One of the best bands on the planet up until(and including) 'o.k computer'.....Who else agrees that 'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac' were absolute piles of crap and an insult to the fans? Oh, bar- 'knives out' on Amnesiac!

Two things:

1. This is the country music category. Why are you asking this here?

2. Regardless of your choice of category, I am actually in complete agreement. Pablo Honey, The Bends, and OK Computer were awesome. Since then, Radiohead has become more about the experimenting with music and less about actually sounding good or being interesting. So I'm no fan of Kid A or Amnesiac.

Sorry, you're wrong. The first album was so-so at best. yes The Bends is one of the best albums ever made, and OK Computer's not far behind - but the seeds of what they went on to do were already showing on some of the OK Computers more elctronic bits. Radiohead consistently challenge themselves and their audience to bend back what's possible in the genre of rock music. I too was initially unconvinced about the later stuff, then I saw them play live at Nimes in a Roman amphitheatre and it all made sense.... Insult to fans? Definitely not. Compliment to fans for an open minded approach to music and a willingness to listen to different challenging ideas - I'd prefer to say so. Yes, they'll probably never better The Bends, in my opinion but at least they haven't TRULY insulted their fans by turning out ever less impressive rehashes of their 'formula' - bands who do this rarely get past 5 albums before their career sinks without trace (Travis managed it in 4 - be VERY careful, Coldplay).

I'd have to disagree with the "insult to fans" idea. Many bands find a successful formula and regurgitate over and over again. Radiohead have frequently tried new ideas and sounds - and in the process they challenge their audience to broaden their musical horizons.

You may not like an individual track or album - but Radiohead's constant musical evolution is a compliment rather than an insult to fans, because it assumes that the audience is smart enough to listen to something new with an open mind.

i think that Kid A and Amnesiac weren't that great, but Hail to the Thief was pretty good. We'll have to wait to see how their new album sounds

Hmm, I answerd this question already, but that one seems to have disappeared.

Anyway, as I said earlier I agree, their first three albums were brilliant, but they got a bit weird after OK Computer and I couldn't really get into their new stuff. It's a shame, they were a great band.

Yes Mr. Harrogate is a fine front warbler and no mistake. If only I could spend all day every day listening to this fine exponent of modern tunefulness rampage it's way through the dense undergrowth of differing timings and other such musical intricacy.
Fine lower harmony registers really do satisfy my most inner cravings and effectively stop me doing things such as stop using the remote and get off my fat bum.
