most of the gases are comprised of methane, carbon dioxide and ammonia . Without sufficient supplies of oxygen, there would not be fire as we know it...

Case in point.. the comet that broke up and hit Jupiter not many years ago...it didnt cause Jupiter to explode..

Jupiter's gas composition is made predominantly of hydrogen with a smaller percentage of helium. Note that there is not a large amount of Oxygen required for ignition of hydrogen (forming H2O). Cloud top temperatures are Minus 160 Degrees F. The hydrogen is quite likely molten deep in the planet and even an almost metalic material deep in the core.

Saturn is also composed of hydrogen and helium with a few other trace gases. Notably absent from the list of gases present is oxygen which is required for combustion. It is presumed that Saturn has a rock and ice core ten to twenty times the mass of Earth.

Uranus is composed of hydrogen, helium, methane and ammonia gases near the surface and ices of those gases below the surface. As were the earlier two cases, Uranus is lacking any significant supplies of oxygen and combustion as we know it is therefore not a normal occurance. Cloud top temperatures are on the order of Minus 353 Degrees F.

Even if you could set a gas giant on fire it would not explode, because fire would not provide anywhere near the energy required to overcome their gravitational binding energy. You'd just get a huge sphere of burning gas which would rapidly extinguish itself as all the oxygen was used up and locked away in carbon dioxide and other gasses.

It is an interesting hypothetical question to wonder exactly how long that would take though.

lol -- it's not that kind of gas!

Jupiter, for example, is composed of about 93% hydrogen and 7% helium. For any kind of ignition to occur, we would also need generous amounts of oxygen. Without oxygen, there will never be a "fire."

Also, remember that the interior of all these planets is quite hot (hotter than any fire we can generate), and yet the planets have not exploded.

If there was "fire" nearby one would assume that the vastness of space was suddenly filled with interacting clouds of exploding elements like hydrogen, methane, and oxygen. If that were the case, yeah, the giants would probably go up like an interstellar barn-on-fire.

No, Jupiter is so big it almost became a small star, it is made of hydrogen the same gas that makes up the sun, the sun did not explode, gravity held it together.

That of course depends on the gasses present in their atmospheres. If they contain an abundant amount of a combustablt gas, i.e. oxygen, methane, etc., they will infact explode. But, I don't think any of the gas giants have an abundant amount of any combustable gasses.

I definitely have a foul temper, my sister who has a Mars in Scorpio and solar Gemini and Moon in Taurus has advised me various circumstances that I definitely have a foul temper and could be merciless, If I definitely have Mars in Libra and Moon in Virgo shouldn't I be calm approximately my anger and administration my thoughts? i assume my temper is very undesirable yet i by no ability went off on a maximum cancers or Pisces or Scorpio, it is in simple terms oftentimes human beings i are not getting alongside with. Even my mom(Aries) and different Aries buddies have stated that i could properly be very merciless, yet i do no longer see it...i understand I definitely have 3 or 4 Sagittarius planets in my charts yet i do no longer think of that is it and likewise alongside with a increasing in Sagittarius.

No, there's no oxygen---everything that can react pretty much already has. Plenty of "sparks" in the form of lightning on Jupiter.

no that wouyldnt happen because fire cannot survive without oxygen and there is not oxygen in space so the chance of anything like that happening is impossible
