In February of 2008, I will be in "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown". Should I audition for Sally or Lucy?

First of all, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown is a wonderful show, and you will have so much fun performing it!

As to what part to audition for, part of it depends on your vocal part. If you sing Mezzo-Soprano, or Alto, I recommend Lucy, but if you sing Soprano, I recommend Sally, just to ensure that the notes you must sing are within your range. Personally, I would prefer Lucy, because of her comedic role in the songs "Schroeder", "The Doctor is In", "Little Known Facts", and "Glee Club Rehersal". Lucy is a hilarious role, and there is alot you can do with her.

Enjoy your audition, and I hope you get the part you desire!

There's no way I could give you an answer by that alone. I would really need to know things such as your vocal range or how you look. Since the Peanuts characters are so well-known, casting directors usually base the roles more on how you look than they do for shows with lesser-known characters. I'll compare and contrast the two roles for you, but the decision is ultimately up to you. When I say something such as "larger role" or whatever, it means out of the two.

Lucy van Pelt: larger role, alto, older character, mean, bratty, know-it-all, may or may not require belting, usually thought of having black hair

Sally Brown: smaller role, mezzo to soprano, younger character, innocent, a bit bratty, cutesy, may or may not require belting, usually though of having blonde hair

If you want more info, feel free to email me! I'd be more than willing to help out. I love "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown", and it's great that you have an opportunity to be in it. Break a leg at your audition!

That is your decision. Read up on the characters and find out what personality they have. Choose the one you think would be the most fun to play or the one that is most like you.

Personally, I would want to be Lucy because it would be fun to play a brat!

But, if you're Sally you get to sing My New Philosophy which is such a FUN song!!

I would audition for both if possible.
If you cant, find as much about YAGMCH as you can and then chose which part you would rather have/would be better for. Also make sure you have the range of whichever one you go for.
I would go for Lucy. But thats just because she would be easy yet fun for me and my range works with her songs.

Best of Luck and Break a Leg!!

Try out for both because that way you will get one f them, but if you can't do you prefer to play mean people or sweet people? A sort of, mean person can be quite fun to play and Sally can be fun because she is sweet. Good luck! I hope you get the part you want :)

Well, Lucyu's definitely a bigger part, but I think Sally would be more fun to play, since she's so sweet and Lucy's kind of a bee-yotch.

"Long as I'm Here With You" from Thoroughly Modern Mille has a very jazzy feel and reminds me a lot of "My New Philosophy" or you could go with "I Cain't Say No" from Oklahoma, or now that I think of it one that I think might be really good for you is "I Speak Six Languages" from the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Hope this helps! :)

Find out if you will be getting the 1961 script or the revival; Sally is not in the original.
