Regardless our President we should respect him for being our leader. I understand we are a country of freedom, exercising this right is encouraged and everyone should have their opinion on the President but why trash him as if he is an enemy? I just think we should all respect our leader, personally, I am not a huge fan of Bush but respect for being our nations leader.

People don't have to agree with him, as I said before, we should exercise our freedom of speech, he is not an evil man like you all call him, people forget that their is still about 30% of the country who agree with this war, it is quite 30% but they are their. People responded with saying should people have respected Hitler? Hitler was a dictator, and a facist, President Bush elected twice, and you have to consider this: Congress has also taken apart of this, all I am asking is how can we disrespect our leader, and call him an emeny, sure disagree with him, but to call him an enemy is just ludacris. Disagree with all him want, but respect him as your leader.

Democracy thrives on dissent and difference of opinion. It is the patriotic thing to do to criticize leaders who are not doing as the people want them to do. To walk in lockstep with the leader whether right or wrong is fodder for totalitarianism. Do you want a dictatorship just for the sake of what you say is disrespect for the president. Let me tell you a few things about respect. My dad told me that in order to get respect one needs to give respect. I have not been given one ounce of respect by G.W. Bush or his Administration. While I respect the title and office of President of the United States I do not have to respect the person holding that office.
It seems that there is a double standard for some. They totally disrespected Clinton and said it was the man not the office they disrespected but when someone does the same to Bush than they are a traitor or not patriotic. Sounds like a double standard and hypocracy to me.

Throughout history, American citizens have criticized their Presidents. Bush is no exception. He has done things in their eyes that are unnecessary, unpopular and downright considered wrong, has involved the United States in a war that has killed more of our American soldiers in the name of freedom, went on a fishing expedition in a country which we have nothing to do with, accused the country of having WMD and none were found...
After incidents such as these, and more, people may find it difficult to respect or even follow a person who is responsible for such things. Criticism of a person in a position of leadership is not treason or unpatriotic behavior...it is part of one of the basic rights we are guaranteed under the Constitution, freedom of speech. If we say something like, "I want to kill the SOB," then we step over the line. I have heard it said that since we elected our officials, then we should have no reason to complain. Their terms are only temporary, and I am sure that the next person in office will be the subject of criticism as well.

I will not and can not respect a mass-murdering, torturing, raping, thieving, lying traitor to my country.
He IS the enemy.
Bin Laden can never destroy us; Bush is doing his best to do just that.
He has no brains, is abysmally ignorant, and supremely arrogant.
He has no conscience; he cares for nothing but self-agrrandizement and enriching his friends.
He is a criminal.
And you think I should RESPECT him for it?
For what? Successfully stealing elections, and trying to destroy my country?
For being a snivelling weasel?
The only thing that can be said for him is that he, to my knowledge, doesn't kick puppies.
That is insufficent reason for respect for a mass-murdering, torturing, raping, thieving, corrupt traitor to his country.

That is ridiculous. You don't think the people of a country should question and criticize a leader that is performing badly for the country? Someone deserves respect simpy because they gained power? Do you think the Germans were right for respecting Hitler as thier leader even though many of them didn't agree with his policies? (yes it was different seeing as they had to fear for thier lives but that was the attitude people held)

It is a huge embarrassment for your country that Bush has been elected twice. He is a mentally retarded person and you should be more critical, even if he is your president (or actually precisely because of that!).

We need to respect the office, but not the person- we have had a few terrible Presidents and history has judged them that way.
It seems that Bush will end up on this list-time will tell, but I think he is misguided at best, and has caused great damage here and to our reputation around the World.

So then you say Nixon should not have been forced to resign.
We have the obligation to keep an eye on what our politicians are doing.
If no one questioned authority, (no matter which party), how much more corrupt would politics be.
We always need to question what the leaders are doing just to keep them in check.
Absolute power, without question, is called a dictatorship.
And that goes for both parties.

Because he's an absolute failure.
I don't regard him as an enemy per se, but I do regard him as a cancer for this country.
How is change supposed to take place if nobody ever calls out failure for what it is?
Basically Bush sucks, and I consider it a patriotic duty to highlight his incompetence and corruption.

Utter Rubbish, if the man is a monster why support him? He should be removed from office & imprisoned in Guantamano Bay. He's the biggest terrorist around at the moment.

Because we are in a war that is poorly managed with no end in sight.
Now I agree with you that we have to respect him as our commander in chief because he is....but listening to the news reports about a new group of soldiers dying in Iraq makes respect for the president dwindle just a little.
