You can filter out stuff that is not suitable for children and you can set up parental control. Even though I have no children myself I have them in case my nieces come stays with me. Go to TOOLS>INTERNET OPTIONS>and the PRIVACY tab, move the slide up or down and a list will come up of what you are blocking. The higher the slider the more things you will block. I have internet securty installed on my computer, this also has anti virus and parental control menus. Here you can select age groups, the younger the child the more websites it will block. When you have that done, it is not every website you will get into which is what you want.

You can watch him when he is on. This can be an issue.
You can install a content filter; these can be user specific and limit some while not limiting others. These can be costly but they work fairly well. Most content filters are a subscription service and all web requests are passed through them for approval or denial. Many companies use these to keep bandwidth consumption limited to business purposes.

Get a program like "Cyber Sitter" or such. This will filter most inappropriate content.

However, nothing beats adult supervision while a child is on the internet.

Put filters on - or sit with him while he is on the internet - the only way to know for certain!
